Protect Your Sprinkler System from Idaho Winters
Idaho winters can be brutal on sprinkler systems. Water left in pipes and valves can freeze, expand, and cause serious damage. Professional winterization protects your investment and prevents costly spring repairs.
Our Winterization Process
We use commercial-grade air compressors to blow all water out of your sprinkler system:
- Shut off water supply to the irrigation system
- Connect commercial air compressor to the system
- Systematically blow out each zone
- Ensure all water is removed from pipes, valves, and heads
- Shut down the controller for winter
When to Schedule Winterization
In Boise and the Treasure Valley, you should winterize between mid-October and early November, before the first hard freeze. We recommend scheduling in September or early October to ensure availability during our busy season.
Winterization Costs
Sprinkler winterization typically costs $75-$150 depending on the number of zones in your system. This small investment can prevent hundreds or thousands of dollars in freeze damage repairs.
What Happens If You Don’t Winterize
Skipping winterization can result in:
- Cracked pipes requiring excavation to repair
- Damaged valves and valve boxes
- Broken backflow preventer (often $300-$600 to replace)
- Split sprinkler heads
- Damage to your controller if it’s exposed to freezing
